Free resource / Interior design operations

A clearer starting point for your next quote.

A simple Excel workbook for organizing selections before you prepare a client proposal. Start with the blank template, or inspect a fictional two-room example.

The workbook

One row per selection.
The details together.

The workbook includes a blank template and a completed example. Capture the room, item, specification, quantity, client unit price, source and review status. Formulas calculate line totals and a merchandise subtotal.

It excludes tax, freight, installation and other fees. Add those only after establishing the rules for your project. All example products, specifications and prices are fictional.

This is a preparation aid, not a finished quoting system or the upload format required by Marais’s internal generator. Adapt it to your studio’s tools and review process.

Worked example / Fictional data

From rows to a readable summary.

The three example rows produce the summary below. It illustrates how the same information can be presented to a client; it is not an actual Marais quote.

Sample project · Quote preparation

Living room & dining room

Fictional merchandise quote, excluding all additional charges
Room / itemQtyUnit priceLine total
Living room · Sofa1$2,400.00$2,400.00
Living room · Chair2$650.00$1,300.00
Dining room · Table1$1,800.00$1,800.00

Merchandise subtotal: $5,500.00

Living room: $3,700.00 · Dining room: $1,800.00

Illustrative only. Excludes tax, freight, installation and other fees. Not an offer to sell.

Before you use it

A short review
makes a better input.

  1. Keep a clean copy of the Template sheet and duplicate it for each project.
  2. Record the exact finish, dimensions and configuration. A product name alone is rarely enough.
  3. Use your approved client price. Keep internal supplier costs out of files shared with clients.
  4. Verify quantities and source information. Blank fields mean “not confirmed,” not zero.
  5. Check the calculated merchandise subtotal against your selections, then account for any additional project charges in your quoting system.
  6. Review the finished proposal before sending it. Changing this workbook does not update an already issued quote.
